A calm narrator works through a simple question: given a fixed resolution and colour depth, how many distinct images are possible? The number is unimaginably large, and almost all of those images are pure noise. Yet every photograph ever taken, and every picture that could ever be taken, already sits somewhere inside that space. The idea is borrowed from Borges's story The Library of Babel and applied to pixels.

Total Pixel Space runs 9 minutes 28 seconds as a single film with no cast beyond its AI narrator. Jacob Adler made the images in Midjourney, animated them in Runway and generated the narration voice with ElevenLabs. It is an independent production with no studio. The imagery is hypnotic rather than story-driven, which is part of why the festival jury singled it out from more than 6,000 submissions.

As of 26 October 2026, the creator's upload on YouTube - Jacob Adler had 98,815 views. That is small by microdrama standards, but the film's reputation comes from awards rather than view counts: it took the Grand Prix and 15,000 US dollars at the Runway AI Film Festival 2025, and coverage by Laughing Squid and Arizona local press followed. Its audience is English-speaking, skewing toward AI artists, filmmakers and people interested in the philosophy of images.
